How to build an executive supply chain dashboard from Unleashed Software
Short answer: export the Sales Order List and Product List from Unleashed, then load both into a dashboard that calculates order book health, stock cover, customer concentration and margin. Dashboard Foundry sells a finished version of exactly this — the Supply Chain Dashboard — Unleashed Edition — which runs offline as a single HTML file and is licensed annually from £2,400.
Why Unleashed reporting runs out of road
Unleashed is a strong inventory and order management system. Its native reports answer transactional questions well: what is on order, what is in stock, what shipped. What they do not do is put those answers side by side so a leadership team can see where value is snagging — which customers are quietly slowing down, which SKUs are tying up cash, and where margin is leaking before anyone notices.
Most businesses fill that gap in one of three ways: a monthly spreadsheet nobody fully trusts, a Power BI or Tableau project that takes months and a specialist to maintain, or nothing at all.
The two exports you need
- Sales Order List — the order book: who ordered, when, at what value, in what status
- Product List — the catalogue: SKUs, cost, sell price, stock on hand
Between them these two files support order book analysis, fulfilment and stuck-order tracking, customer concentration and dormancy, stock health and days of cover, product velocity, and margin by customer, product and channel.
What to actually measure
- Order book value and intake — what is committed, and whether new orders are keeping pace with fulfilment
- Stuck orders — orders sitting in a status longer than they should, ranked by value at risk
- Customer concentration — cumulative share of revenue by customer, so dependency risk is obvious rather than anecdotal
- Dormancy — customers whose buying rhythm has broken, flagged against their own history rather than a fixed rule
- Stock cover — days of cover per SKU, ranked by revenue at risk rather than units on hand
- Overstock and excess cash — slow movers quantified in cash tied up
- Blended and outlier margin — margin by customer, product and channel, with the outliers surfaced
- Data quality — what in the export itself is distorting the numbers, checked before anyone acts on them
Common mistakes
- Measuring units, not cover. A thousand units of something that sells twice a year is not healthy stock.
- Averaging margin across the whole book. A respectable blended margin routinely hides a handful of loss-making accounts.
- Treating the export as clean. Duplicate customer records, missing cost prices and zero-value lines quietly skew every headline number.
- Building it in a live BI tool first. If nobody has agreed which questions matter, an integration just automates the wrong report.
Build it yourself or buy it finished
Building it yourself in Excel or Power BI is entirely possible and costs nothing but time — realistically several weeks to a first credible version, plus ongoing maintenance whenever the export format or the questions change.
Buying it finished removes that. The Dashboard Foundry edition arrives as one HTML file, reads the two Unleashed exports directly, and produces eight tabs in under a minute. It parses the files entirely inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded, transmitted or stored — it works with the network cable unplugged, which usually removes the security review as well.

Questions
Does it connect to Unleashed via API?
No. It reads a CSV export, so figures are a point-in-time snapshot. Re-export and reload whenever you want a fresh view. The upside is that there is nothing to authorise, nothing to maintain and no credentials to manage.
Can it be adapted to our process?
Yes. Every threshold, weighting and scoring band is documented and configurable, and bespoke editions are built to order.
What if we are not on Unleashed?
Send a sample export. Mapped editions for other inventory and ERP systems are quoted as a one-off build.
